Russ Sena trumpet & fluglehorn
Life-long professional musician and teacher. Has worked with some of the top celebrities in the entertainment world including: Bob Hope, Red Skelton, Tony Bennett and Ray Charles. Taught band and performed in the Savannah, GA and Hilton Head Island, SC area for 30 years before retiring to Asheville. Active in several WNC ensembles: jazz, show and classical; as well as a much in demand section lead man for traveling orchestras, road shows and musical theatre productions.

Has entertained audiences around the world from London to Tahiti, the Waldorf in NYC to Hendersonville, NC.
Hank plays half a dozen instruments and has composed music for film and television, including feature-length movies for Academy Award nominated animator Bill Plympton. He has recently released an album of Hoagy Carmichael songs for solo guitar. In 2000, he won "Best Homegrown CD" award from Acoustic Guitar magazine. Hank relocated from NYC two years ago and is thrilled to be living in Western North Carolina. |
Frank Pomeroy acoustic bass
Extensive background with multiple instruments: tuba, mandolin, guitar, piano and synthesizer. Played professionally in the Catskills of NY as well as in NJ, PA and NC. Owner and president of a medical staffing agency in Asheville. Has over 45 years of experience performing a broad spectrum of styles including: swing, jazz, rock and roll, country, Dixieland, bluegrass and classical. | Rick Dowdeswell leader, drums
Has played in dance band combos since High School. Spent many years in the Spartanburg-Greenville,SC area booking and performing on the night scene with top flight area groups including a sextet fronted by Jack Green, trombonist (Urbie's older brother and teacher). Now semi-retired and living in Hendersonville; active in many regional organizations involved in the performing arts: instrumental groups, choral and theatre. Member of the WNC Jazz Society. |

Uptown Jazz Quartet and Quintet and its predecessor, the Foxtrotters, have performed for private parties and wedding receptions at several area B&B's including The Orchard Inn in Saluda, Melange in Hendersonville and the Highland Lake Inn in Flat Rock. Also private party dates at the Hendersonille Country Club, Kenmure Country Club and Cummings Cove CC; club dates at the Purple Onion in Saluda; the Jesters Club formal dance at Oasis Shrine Temple in Charlotte; Deerfield Retirement Center in Asheville; Friends of the Library, Hendersonville; Pardee Hospital annual Christmas parties in Hendersonville; Fundraising Gala for the Carolina Concert Choir; and a Fundraising benefit for a NonProfit group in Greenville, SC.
